Painting is meditative. Not every action needs to be planned, articulated or resolved. There is a connection between mind and body that is very intuitive. Through formal investigations of line, color, and rhythm, abstract metaphors begin to emerge. In doing so, I’ve realized that whether I’m in the studio or in the gallery, that to be lost is to be present. - Joe Karlovec
